Well-defined and full cheeks will give your face a youthful, healthy and gentle expression. But as we age, a part of our subcutaneous fat disappears, while the remaining subcutaneous fat is slowly pulled down by gravity. As a result the nasolabial fold deepens while the cheeks sag. At the same time the skin – losing the connective tissue’s support – will start to fold and thin lines will appear. This usually starts at the cheeks and around the mouth. And although these lines are often called smile lines, the reality is they make you look tired, and sometimes sad.
MUsing an appropriate dermal filler from the Restylane® or RadiesseTM ranges we can restore the vanishing subcutaneous fat and in doing so, revolumize the cheeks. Depending on the skin type and the extend of volume loss your treating cosmetic physician can chose a (combination of) Restylane® or Radiesse TM products. To smooth away fine lines as well as deeper wrinkles we generally prefer using a relatively thin gel. However, if the skin shows multiple fine lines at the cheeks a treatment with Restylane® Vital could be the ideal remedy.
The form of your face is largely determined by the quantity of subcutaneous fat and by the form of your cheekbones. Clearly defined cheekbones will give your face the glow of youth and firms the face’s contours.
Around the age of 30, our cheekbones get less and less pronounced: the bone recedes and part of the subcutaneous fat vanishes. And over time remaining subcutaneous fat is slowly pulled down by gravity. As a result the nasolabial fold deepens while the cheeks sag.
Recontouring the face can, even at an early age, help preserve your face’s youthful beauty and élan, for it does not just seem to elevate the cheekbones; in fact the entire face will appear lifted after such a treatment. And there is a surprisingly positive side effect: it will smooth deep nasolabial folds.
